Responsibilities

Job Description

Our client is seeking an experienced Electromechanical Build Technician to support prototype development and low-rate production activities in a fast-paced engineering environment. This role is responsible for building, integrating, inspecting, and preparing advanced electromechanical systems for testing and validation. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience assembling complex mechanical and electrical systems and working closely with engineering teams during product development.

Key Responsibilities

Build & Assembly

• Execute prototype and pre‑production build campaigns for subassemblies and complete systems.
• Perform mechanical and electrical assembly, wiring, harnessing, and integration activities.
• Assemble and integrate motors, actuators, gearboxes, sensors, encoders, and related components.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring schematics, assembly instructions, and CAD models.
• Complete final system integration and support product readiness for testing.
• Track build progress and communicate material shortages, design concerns, and production risks.

Testing & Quality

• Prepare assemblies for end‑of‑line (EOL) testing and system validation.
• Perform in‑process inspections including fit, alignment, torque verification, connector seating, and electrical continuity checks.
• Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and torque wrenches.
• Document non‑conformances, build deviations, and quality issues.
• Assist with hardware readiness activities for firmware and software integration.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

• Work closely with Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineers throughout product development.
• Provide Design for Assembly (DFA) feedback to improve manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.
• Support production planning activities including materials staging and build readiness reviews.
• Assist in developing and updating assembly procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment using 5S principles.
• Support multiple build programs simultaneously in a dynamic development setting.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly.
• Experience building prototype, development, or low-volume production hardware.
• Strong mechanical and electrical integration skills.
• Experience using assembly tools including:
  • Torque wrenches
  • Crimpers
  • Soldering equipment
  • Hand and power tools
• Ability to read and follow engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced engineering and manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree or Technical Certification in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electromechanical Technology, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in robotics, aerospace, automotive, automation, or consumer electronics industries.
• Experience assembling actuators, motors, gearboxes, encoders, and robotic systems.
• Knowledge of GD&T and metrology equipment.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), prototype development, or Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP) environments.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional engineering teams.
