The role requires hands-on manufacturing leadership, strong problem-solving, and clear communication to drive accountability, while coordinating with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to remove barriers and support

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, skilled trades, or related environment.

Position Overview

The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for safety, quality, productivity, schedule execution, team coordination, and day-to-day supervision of a multi-discipline assembly team of up to approximately 15 employees.

This position ensures that dredges, booster pumps, and related equipment are assembled in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, production priorities, quality standards, and customer requirements. The Assembly Supervisor works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning, and Project Management to remove barriers, resolve issues, coordinate resources, and maintain efficient build flow across all assembly disciplines.

In addition to assembly supervision, this role is heavily involved in facilities maintenance activities. This may include coordinating outside contractors, directly troubleshooting and resolving facility issues, supporting equipment uptime, and helping maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on manufacturing leader with strong mechanical aptitude, experience supervising skilled trades, sound judgment, clear communication, and the ability to drive accountability while supporting and developing the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily dredge assembly operations across multiple trades, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic assembly, welding, industrial painting, and related disciplines.
• Lead, coach, and hold accountable a team of up to approximately 15 tradespeople, including mechanics, assemblers, electricians, hydraulic technicians, painters, welders, and trade leads.
• Plan, assign, and monitor daily work to support production schedules, build priorities, quality requirements, and customer commitments.
• Ensure all team members are clocked into the correct travelers daily. Review for accuracy and approve timecards. Conduct associated labor reporting and efficiency calculations, as required.
• Monitor the status of assembly Work Orders and ensure that they are submitted to production control in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with leads and cross-functional resources to resolve build issues, drawing questions, material constraints, rework needs, and schedule conflicts.
• Ensure work is completed according to requirements, including engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, work instructions, quality standards, customer expectations, and safety requirements.
• Daily report out to leadership on safety, quality, delivery, and productivity status and challenges.
• Identify and remove production barriers related to materials, drawings, labor, tools, equipment, facilities, quality issues, or cross-functional coordination.
• Reinforce safety expectations and shop discipline, including PPE, housekeeping, 5S, lockout/tagout, hot work, rigging, elevated work, confined space, and other applicable shop EHS requirements.
• Drive quality, productivity, and first-pass workmanship by reducing rework, verifying critical steps, addressing recurring defects, and improving assembly processes.
• Support employee development and performance management, including training, cross-training, onboarding, feedback, documentation, performance reviews, and succession planning.
• Coordinate and support facilities maintenance activities, including identifying facility needs, troubleshooting issues, coordinating contractors, supporting repairs, maintaining tools and equipment, and helping ensure building and equipment uptime.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five (5)+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, skilled trades, heavy equipment, industrial equipment, marine equipment, or a related environment.
• Experience supervising or coordinating multiple trades is strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting facilities maintenance, contractor coordination, equipment troubleshooting, or building maintenance preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable federal and state safety laws.

Skills & Abilities

• Hands-on leadership, coaching, and accountability skills in a manufacturing or skilled-trades environment.
• Ability to coordinate multiple trades across complex equipment builds.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, BOMs, schedules, and technical documentation.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remove barriers and resolve production issues quickly.
• Solid understanding of industrial safety practices, including rigging, hot work, elevated work, stored energy, and housekeeping.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to set expectations and provide corrective feedback.
• Basic computer skills; timekeeping, Microsoft Office, or manufacturing systems preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, & Registrations

• Overhead crane, rigging, aerial lift, or other applicable manufacturing certifications preferred.
• OSHA, first aid, CPR, or other safety-related training preferred.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, speak, and hear. Regular activities include walking; reaching with hands and arms; climbing or balancing; and stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Work may occasionally occur in confined spaces and at heights up to 20 ft. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lb and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lb. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be exposed to:
