Job summary

Demand Detroit is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide line/maintenance engineering support for the Engines and Axles Assembly platforms in Detroit, MI. The role covers project-based work and day-to-day production support on the 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm), ensuring adherence to methods and metrics.

The position emphasizes technical ownership, collaboration with line supervisors, and driving preventative maintenance across current and future equipment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
• High analytical ability for complex problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration.
• Proficient with PC hardware and standard software.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance engineering support for Assembly processes and related areas.
• Review station drawings and BOMs; develop spare parts lists.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
• Troubleshoot tooling and equipment breakdowns daily.
• Develop and implement tooling for product changes and assembly methods.
• Procure equipment with Purchasing and vendors.
• Certify equipment (gages, torque guns, leak testers).
• Occasional supervision of skilled trades.
• Provide technical coaching for assemblers and supervisors.
• Keep current with industry technology developments.
• Participate in weekend production coverage rotation.
