Job summary

Daimler Truck North America LLC in Detroit, MI, seeks a maintenance engineer to support Engines and Axles assembly lines, ensuring adherence to methods and production metrics. You will partner with line supervisors and hourly staff to meet daily production demands and drive improvements.

The role includes developing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting tooling, and implementing changes while interacting with cross-functional teams on an onsite second shift (3:00pm – 11:00pm).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of analytical ability for complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with others.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware and software (Windows).

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance engineering support for Engine and Axles assembly processes.
  • Review station drawings and BOMs; develop spare parts lists.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance for equipment.
  • Provide daily troubleshooting for tooling and equipment issues.
  • Develop and implement tooling for product changes and assembly methods.
  • Procure equipment with purchasing and vendors; ensure certifications for gauges and torque tools.
  • Occasional supervision of skilled trades; act as a technical coach for assemblers and supervisors.
  • Remain current with industry technological developments.
  • Participate in weekend production coverage rotations.
