Job summary

Daimler Truck North America in Detroit, MI is seeking a maintenance engineer to support Engines and Axles assembly on 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm). You’ll own technical issues, interface with line supervisors, and drive maintenance strategies for daily and future production needs.

Responsibilities include reviewing drawings and BOMs, developing spare parts lists, implementing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting tooling, and coaching assemblers and supervisors on best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferably Mechanical/Mechanical Engineering Technology.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with others.

Responsibilities

• Provide maintenance engineering support for Assembly processes and related areas.
• Review station drawings and BOMs; develop spare parts lists.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures for equipment.
• Troubleshoot tooling and equipment breakdowns daily.
• Develop and implement tooling for product changes.
• Develop and implement assembly process methods.
• Procure equipment with purchasing and vendors.
• Oversee equipment certification (gauges, torque tools, testers).
• Occasional supervision of skilled trades personnel.
• Act as technical coach for assemblers and supervisors.
• Stay current with industry technology developments.
• Participate in weekend production coverage with peers.
