Job summary

Heller Industries is seeking a hands-on Warehouse Technician to support technical assembly, warehouse operations, and shipping coordination. You will prepare components and subassemblies for warranty, service, and technical support needs, reading schematics and drawings as you work.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering support, assembly, warehouse, field service, or similar technical environment.
• Candidates without a degree may qualify with 5 or more years of relevant manufacturing, technical assembly, engineering support, or related experience.
• Ability to read and understand schematics, assembly drawings, engineering drawings, and technical instructions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving skills.
• Experience with mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, or technical component assembly is highly desirable.
• Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack as required
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn ERP, inventory, and shipping systems.
• Experience working with UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, or other shipping providers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret schematics, engineering drawings, assembly drawings, diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Assemble components, parts, and subassemblies according to engineering specifications and work instructions.
• Verify that assemblies are built correctly and contain the appropriate components prior to shipment.
• Identify discrepancies, damaged components, missing parts, or potential assembly issues and communicate them to the appropriate internal team.
• Use common hand tools and assembly equipment safely and effectively.
• Package completed assemblies and components appropriately to prevent damage during shipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Pick, organize, stage, and prepare parts and assemblies for customer shipments.
• Process warranty and service-related shipments accurately and efficiently.
• Verify part numbers, quantities, customer information, and shipping documentation before orders leave the facility.
• Package components and assemblies according to company and carrier requirements.
• Coordinate shipments with various shipping carriers and freight companies.
• Schedule pickups and monitor shipment status as needed.
• Prepare shipping labels, packing slips, and other required documentation.
• Work with Customer Service, Warranty, Engineering, and other departments to coordinate customer requirements and shipping priorities.
• Receive incoming materials and assist with inventory organization and material handling.
• Maintain accurate records of shipped materials and components.
• Help maintain appropriate inventory levels of commonly used warranty and support parts.
• Identify and communicate inventory discrepancies or shortages.

Job description

This position combines technical assembly, warehouse operations, and shipping coordination and is responsible for preparing components and assemblies for shipment to customers for warranty, service, and technical support needs.

The ideal candidate has a technical or manufacturing background and is comfortable reading schematics, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions. This individual will be responsible for accurately assembling parts and subassemblies, preparing customer orders, processing shipments, and coordinating with multiple shipping carriers to ensure materials reach customers accurately and on time.

This is a hands-on position requiring strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, organization, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Customer Service, and other internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Assembly

• Help resolve shipment or assembly issues by identifying problems and communicating solutions to the appropriate team.
• Take ownership of assigned work and proactively communicate potential delays or issues.
