  • Possess awareness of impact on product quality and ISO 9001 standards where applicable.

About this position

Description:

SUMMARY:

The Assembly Material Handler works on a variety of tasks in a team environment to ensure efficiencies depending upon department/production need. This role is a vital component in the company's goals of scrap reduction, on-time deliveries, high quality products and machine efficiencies. This position reports directly to the Assembly Supervisor, as well as the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.

SHIPPING & RECEIVING ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loads and unloads material within warehouse or storage / production facility.
  • Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, conveyors, or other handing equipment to move material within the facility.
  • Checks incoming deliveries to make sure ordered materials meet quality standards
  • Monitors inventory levels and suggest new orders when needed.
  • Performs forklift inspections.
  • Works overtime as needed.
  • Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
  • Assists the Shipping Supervisor in the timely and accurate shipment of finished goods to our customers.
  • Routes incoming goods to the proper departments.
  • Performs daily inventory counts.
  • Processes receipts of incoming materials.
  • Loads and unloads trucks and verifies accuracy of the paperwork to the product.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Detects faulty operations, defective material and reports those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Maintains awareness of their impact on product quality and the importance of their activities in achieving, maintaining and improving quality according to ISO 9001 standards, as applicable.
  • Fills in as needed in the absence of another employee.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Shipping & Receiving Supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently at a fast pace.
  • Focuses and places importance upon attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow demonstrated and written instructions.
  • Good communication skills, team oriented and a self-starter.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a high school diploma (or a GED equivalence), a valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Must be trained and certified to operate a forklift. Experience in manufacturing and forklift operation is preferred; however, on-the-job training is available.
  • CDL license required

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Has ability to read, comprehend and write the English language as it relates to safety, job responsibilities and other essential communication.
  • Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Possesses strong reasoning skills, including the ability to analyze problems and identify, implement and rationalize solutions.

  • Must be able to lift, push and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds consistently, with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, twist and utilize both hands for extended periods of time.

  • Works within a fast-paced manufacturing environment that is not temperature regulated.
  • The environment may be loud requiring hearing protection in some areas.
  • Personal protective equipment is required as defined within the hazard analysis sheet defined for this position.
