Job summary

Zenix Aerospace AMT/Damar is seeking an Assembly Technician to build aerospace structural sections from parts and subassemblies, following blueprints with hand and power tools. You will install units, fasten components, drill, trim, and verify fits against engineering specs in a busy assembly area.

The role requires attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to read work instructions. Prior aerospace assembly experience is preferred; training on safety procedures and 5-S is provided.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Performs assembly tasks with a high level of skill.
  • Performs daily tasks without supervision.
  • Installs units, parts, equipment, and components in structural assembly, according to blueprints and specifications, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Bolts, screws, or rivets accessories to fasten, support, or hang components and subassemblies.
  • Drills holes in structure and subassemblies, and attaches brackets, hinges, or clips to secure installation or to fasten subassemblies.
  • Locates and marks reference points and holes for installation of parts and components, using jigs, templates, and measuring instruments.
  • Inspects and tests installed units, parts, and equipment for fit, performance, and compliance with standards, using measuring instruments and test equipment.
  • Positions and aligns subassemblies in jigs or fixtures, using measuring instruments, following blueprint lines and index points.
  • Cuts, trims, and files parts, and verifies fitting tolerances to prepare for installation.
  • Installs bushings using liquid nitrogen or presses as required.
  • Applies sealants or paint per customer specifications using proper safety devices.
  • Uses shop equipment needed to complete operations, such as C-squeeze, arbor presses, ground stud puller, cherry pullers, and shop hand tools.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using standard measuring tools as required.
  • Runs parts that meet engineering specifications without supervision.
  • Reads and interprets manufacturing drawings at intermediate level.
  • Recognizes production problems, informs supervisor, and makes recommendations for improvements or solutions.
  • Performs work instructions completely.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by the Company, including proper use of safety equipment and relevant safety procedures.
  • Follows 5-S procedures & works in organized manner. Makes recommendations & takes initiative to improve area.
  • Meets job Time Standard without supervision.
  • Produces parts with high quality, minimal non-conformances.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description:

*The Assembly position offers level 1 - Journey Lvl. Wage scale provided reflects level 1 - 2.

The Assembly tech assembles aerospace structural sections from parts, subassemblies and components independently and efficiently.

What will my responsibilities include?

  • The Assembler works in the Assembly environment throughout the workday; this environment may include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc.
  • Possible skin and inhaled contact may occur with various sealants, paints, adhesives, liquid nitrogen, MEK, and chemicals used during assembly or cleaning of parts
  • Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required
  • Safety training is required and provided by the Company in accordance with applicable law, industry standards, and Company policy
Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Individuals must stand for much of the workday. May work at different workstations as production needs require, or change from one station to another during assembly process. This position may require overtime and shift changes. Job functions on and around mechanized equipment will present the need for alertness, accuracy and safety awareness. Work activities involve frequent combinations of walking, pushing, pulling, bending, lifting and carrying and standing for extended periods. Work requires the ability to see, hear and smell in order to detect problems. The work requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds. Salary Offering:

$23.00 per hour to $27.75 per hour

Fri/Sat/Sun, 5:00am - 5:30pm (see below for shift premium and shift differential pay)
