Job summary

Moog in Ohio is seeking an Assembler/Tester to build fiber optic cables and assemblies using hand tools and fixtures. You will verify parts meet specifications, take precision measurements, and perform multiple assembly phases with close attention to quality.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assemble fibre optic cables and transceivers using hand tools and fixtures.
• Assemble units and verify parts meet specifications.
• Take precision measurements for proper component fit.
• Perform stages of assembly including inspecting, cleaning, terminating, polishing, testing, and packing.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged assemblies to meet specs.
• Run tests per documentation and record results.
• Set up, calibrate, and changeover testing platforms safely.
• Read and follow detailed work instructions and drawings.
• Handle materials safely in an ESD environment.

The Assembler/Tester position is located onsite in Highland Heights, Ohio, reporting to the Production Supervisor with 1st or 2nd shift schedules.

Key Responsibilities

• Make fiber optic cables and/or transceivers by assembling parts and assemblies using hand tools, equipment, and fixtures.
• Assemble complete units of work and verify finished parts or components meet specifications.
• Take precision measurements for perfect fit of components using manual and/or automated equipment.
• Complete one or more phases of the assembly process (inspecting, cleaning, assembling, terminating, polishing, testing, and/or packing of the finished product).
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or nonconforming assemblies to ensure full compliance with customer specifications and requirements.
• Follow test documentation to execute testing requirements, conduct tests using test equipment to determine functionality and pass/fail results.
• Review and/or record test results to determine whether the product meets specifications.
• Complete setup, calibration and changeover of testing platforms in a safe and accurate manner.
• Read, interpret, and follow detailed work instructions, drawings, processes and established procedures to assemble parts according to quality standards and customer specifications.
• Handle material in a safe manner within an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred; otherwise, demonstrated ability to understand and apply verbal, written and computer work instructions or training in English and to perform simple arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Experience in assembly or manufacturing environments (preferred).
• Working knowledge of precision measurement and testing equipment.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain quality standards.

• Competitive hourly salary of $16.74–$19.88 in Cleveland, OH, with 2nd shift employees receiving $1.00 shift differential.
