Job summary

Johnson Controls, Inc. is seeking a skilled compressor technician to dismantle, inspect, and reassemble Frick and other compressors following safety and 5S standards.

You will use hand and power tools, read blueprints, coordinate with other departments, maintain reports, and contribute to continuous improvement through Kaizen events.

Qualifications

• Experience with compressor teardown and reassembly preferred.
• Ability to read and follow blueprints and specifications.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle compressors using proper tooling and safety protocols.
• Evaluate condition of internal components after dismantling.
• Check components with measuring devices for wear or damage.
• Determine root cause of failure and document findings.
• Identify parts for scrap, rework, or reuse and maintain teardown reports.
• Follow orders/blueprints with minimal supervision; coordinate with other departments.
• Maintain time, quality, and production records; keep work area clean and safe.

1. New compressor assembly, rebuild disassembly, assembly of Frick and other manufactured compressors.
2. Dismantle compressors with the proper tooling: A. Hand tools (pneumatic and electrical equipment) B. 100 - Ton Press C. Oxygen acetylene torch D. Design and Fabricate methods to safely dismantle locked compressors
3. Evaluate the condition of internal compressor components after dismantling.
4. Using the proper measuring devices, check compressor components for wear and for improperly machined surfaces.
5. Determine the root cause of the compressor failure, and report to supervisor. A. Did a Frick manufactured part fail, and what caused the failure B. Was the failure system related C. Was the failure related to a purchased compressor component
6. With minimal direction from others determine which parts are scrap, re-workable, and re-useable.
7. Use power and hand tools to assure accurate fitting and complete alignment of parts to provide a properly functioning compressor which will pass all test requirements.
8. Follow sales orders and or blueprints with minimal direction from others.
9. Maintain teardown reports, log books, P.M. schedules, time sheets and other related materials.
10. Coordinate receipt, scheduling, parts requirements and shipments with other departments.
11. Perform the necessary material handling associated with the job.
12. Maintain necessary time, quality, quantity and other records.
13. Maintain clean, safe work area and equipment according to 5S standards.
14. May be called upon to participate within special work teams performing various team related duties. Including Kaizen events, 5S programs and problem solving exercises.
15. Follow all safety policies, procedures and JHRA's.

HIRING HOURLY RANGE

$29.08 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
