Job summary

Dover Food Retail (DFR) is seeking an Assembler II, 2nd Shift for its Colonial Heights, VA location. The role focuses on kitting, material handling, receiving, and strong inventory control within a warehouse setting.

The individual will work onsite, pull product per work orders, issue components to WIP, and coordinate with the production team to manage shortages and quality issues. Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of plant layout, warehouse mapping, equipment applications, material requirements and inventory control

Responsibilities

• Physically pulls product required on work orders
• Picks product from stock and issues components to WIP
• Provides advance information to production coordinator regarding shortages
• Utilizes KANBAN system to identify outages
• Strives to reduce kitting error and quality issues
• Reports substitutions and BOM corrections to production coordinator
• Complies with quality assurance procedures to ensure best output
• Strives to improve departmental efficiencies and reduce cost through continuous improvement
• Adheres to company policies and procedures
• Fosters goodwill with internal customers
• Adheres to inventory control systems and computer tracking
• Maintains high level 5S in Kitting area
• Demonstrates commitment to safety and OH&S compliance
• Works overtime as assigned
• Complete all duties as assigned

Experience:

• 1-3 Years of kitting, material handling, receiving experience, preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Individuals in this position are expected to have a thorough knowledge of plant layout, warehouse mapping, equipment applications, material requirements and good inventory control practices
• Persons shall demonstrate competency when using computers (AS400 and Windows) and various printers
• Individuals should exhibit strong communication and organizational skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Physically pulls product required on work orders.
• Picks product from stock/issues components to WIP (Work in Progress).
• Provides advance information to production coordinator regarding shortages, etc.
• Utilizes KANBAN system (as appropriate) to identify outages
• Strives to reduce kitting error and quality issues
• Reports substitutions and BOM (Bill of Materials) corrections to production coordinator
• Complies with all quality assurance procedures and policies to ensure best quality product output
• Strives to improve departmental efficiencies and reduce cost through continuous improvement
• Knows and adheres to Company policies and procedures
• Fosters goodwill with all internal customers
• Adheres to established inventory control systems and computer tracking
• Strives to maintain high level 5s in Kitting area
• Must demonstrate commitment to safety & continual improvement of OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) performance, registered standards, company policy, integrity, ethics, and legal compliance
• Works overtime as assigned
