Job summary

IPG’s Medical Products Group is seeking an Assembler II to assemble, test, and support mechanical, electronic, and electro-mechanical medical instruments and prototypes. The role requires following detailed work instructions and maintaining quality standards in a manufacturing setting.

You will read blueprints and schematics, perform soldering, wire routing, and basic fabrication, and assist with packaging and inspections.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training preferred.
• Typically 1–2 years of assembly experience; progression from Assembler I.
• Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and schematics.
• Basic soldering and assembly skills; familiarity with hand and power tools.
• Basic computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office, production systems).
• Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
• Ability to follow standardized processes while working independently.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, and join components and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
• Install, route, and connect wiring, cables, and electronic components per diagrams and work instructions.
• Perform soldering and basic fabrication tasks to complete assemblies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, bills of materials, and written procedures.
• Conduct quality checks and inspections to ensure products meet specifications and standards.

IPG’s Medical Products Group is focused on developing next-generation medical products and disposable instruments based on IPG’s state-of-the-art lasers. The Engineering Technician is responsible for assembly and testing of medical instruments and prototypes, including single use.

Position Summary

The Assembler II performs a variety of assembly, fabrication, inspection, and testing tasks to build and support mechanical, electronic, and/or electro-mechanical products and subassemblies. This role works with moderate independence to assemble components, follow detailed work instructions, and ensure products meet quality and performance standards. The position may support multiple stages of the production process, including assembly, wiring, soldering, testing, inspection, and packaging.

• Assemble, align, and join components, parts, and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.

• Follow all safety procedures, including MPI, OSHA, MSDS, and PPE requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve routine assembly issues; escalated more complex problems to supervision.
• May perform work in specialized environments (e.g., cleanroom) depending on department.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education:
  • High school or equivalent; vocational school graduate preferred.
• Experience:
  • Typically 1–2 years of assembly experience or progression from Assembler I
  • Experience in mechanical, electronic, or electro-mechanical assembly preferred for some areas as needed.
• Skills:
  • Fully competent as Assembler I
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and schematics
  • Basic soldering and assembly skills
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, Microsoft Office, production systems)
  • Strong attention to detail and quality focus
  • Ability to follow standardized processes while working independently
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, bend, reach, and walk for extended periods
