Job summary

FormFactor, Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon is seeking an experienced Sr Assembler to perform high‑precision assembly of electronic and electro‑mechanical systems. You will work with microscopes, membranes, and MEMS components, following BOMs and schematics.

The role requires dexterity, attention to detail, tolerance analysis, and the ability to thrive in a fast pace production environment. Night shift hours provide a 15% differential and opportunities for process improvement leadership.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of related experience required.
  • Ability to read schematics and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Experience with precision assembly under microscopes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate laser-cutting equipment per procedures to cut and extract membranes and components.
  • Assemble membranes onto electronic probe components with fixtures and UV curing.
  • Mechanical attachment of miniature components using screws, adhesives, and alignment tools.
  • Perform duties of Assembly Technician II as needed.
  • Prioritize tasks to maximize throughput and meet due dates.
  • Read and follow BOMs, schematics, diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Perform tolerance calculations to evaluate fit and performance.
  • Set up and test to validate build specifications and accuracy.
  • Collect and analyze SPC data to improve process stability and yield.
  • Operate assembly and curing equipment per procedures.
  • Handle chemicals safely in PPE.

You will receive a 15% shift differential for working on the night shift.Job Description:The Assembler is responsible for the precision assembly of complex electronic and electro‑mechanical systems. This role requires advanced competency in assembling extremely small, fragile, and high‑tolerance components using microscopes, specialized fixtures, and detailed work instructions. Sr Assemblers work from schematics, diagrams, Bills of Material, and written or verbal instructions to produce high‑quality microscopic components for electronic test products. The role demands strong dexterity, exceptional attention to detail, the ability to derive and validate component tolerances, and the capability to thrive in a fast‑paced production environment. As an expert assembler, this role also provides training, leadership, and process‑improvement contributions within the assembly team.Key Responsibilities:Operate laser‑cutting equipment per documented procedures to cut and extract polymer membranes and components for assembly or engineering evaluation.Assemble polymer membranes onto electronic probe components, including membrane attachment, clamping into proprietary fixtures, UV curing, and managing cure times.Perform mechanical attachment of miniature, mixed‑material components using screw fasteners, adhesives, and precision alignment tools.Perform all technical duties of an Assembly Technician II when required.Prioritize assembly tasks to maximize throughput based on build requirements, cure times, and production due dates.Read, interpret, and follow assembly documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), schematics, diagrams, and written work instructions.Perform simple mathematical calculations, including tolerance stack‑ups, to evaluate component fit and performance.Assemble microscopic parts and components using specialized jigs, fixtures, hand tools, and microscopes.Set up and perform testing to validate build specifications and confirm assembly accuracy.Collect, organize, and analyze Statistical Process Control (SPC) data to monitor and improve process stability and yield.Set up and operate specialized assembly and curing equipment in accordance with documented procedures.Safely handle chemicals—including adhesives and solvents—while following all safety rules, PPE requirements, and material‑handling practices.Work Environment:Works with chemicals while wearing ESD‑safe protective equipment, including smock, hair covering, gloves, safety glasses, and other required PPE.Works at a microscope for extended periods, up to 80% of a shift, depending on station assignment.Able to read and follow detailed work instructions and complete both written and electronic documentation.Capable of pushing and pulling 10–15 lbs.Performs routine lifting of materials weighing approximately 6 lbs.Skills:Assembly Line, Assembly Manufacturing, Assembly Operations, Assembly Processes, Assembly Tools, Assembly Work, Electrical Soldering, Manufacturing, PCB Soldering, Product Assembly, Semiconductor Assembly, SMT Soldering, SolderingEducation & Experience:Minimum of 2 - 4 years of related experience | RequiredPay Range:$18.80 - $24.68Pay Range Explained:This role in Beaverton, Oregon pays between $18.80 and $24.68 per hour, depending on your experience, skills, and background.
