Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• One year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
• Up to 1 year of experience or combination of education and experience with mechanical aptitude and ability to read work instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools such as hand drills and air tools.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memos and basic safety/operating manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Observe and follow all safety rules.
• Position parts according to unit or blueprints; fasten parts with bolts, screws, rivets or other fasteners.
• Audit production parts to maintain stock for production needs.
• Remove small quantities of metal with files to fit parts.
• Operate hand tools or portable power tools.
• Work at different stations as needed; operate overhead hoist, forklift, and pallet jacks.
• Overtime may be required, including weekends.

What Youll Do

Observes and follows all safety rulesPositions parts according to knowledge of unit being assembled or following blueprints; fastens parts together with bolts screws speed clips rivets or other fastenersAudit production parts to maintain adequate stock to fulfill production needsRemoves small quantities of metal with hand files and scrapers to produce a close fit between partsOperates hand tools or portable power tools to assist in the assembly operationMay be required to work at different stations as production needs warrant Operate overhead hoist to maneuver materialOperate Forklift to move products throughout the plantOperate hand tools to assemble productsOperate power and manual pallet jacks throughout the plantMust be willing and able to work overtime as an extension to a normal workday or on weekends as scheduledOther assignments as deemed appropriate by the supervisor
