Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and mechanically inclined Assembler to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and inspecting electro-mechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and quality standards.
This position requires strong attention to detail, good hand skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a production environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assemble mechanical and electrical components, subassemblies, and finished products according to engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Install wiring, connectors, terminals, switches, sensors, motors, and other electrical components.
- Perform mechanical assembly using hand tools, power tools, torque tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
- Route, terminate, crimp, solder, and secure wires and cables as required.
- Perform basic electrical and mechanical testing to verify proper assembly and functionality.
- Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, accuracy, and compliance with quality requirements.
- Identify and troubleshoot assembly issues, wiring errors, and mechanical fit problems.
- Use measuring and inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and torque tools when required.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Follow established safety procedures, quality standards, and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate production issues, material shortages, and quality concerns to supervisors or appropriate personnel.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities to improve quality, efficiency, and production processes.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in electro-mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, mechanical assembly, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic test equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with wiring, crimping, soldering, or cable assembly.
- Experience working from engineering drawings, BOMs, and controlled work instructions.
- Familiarity with torque specifications and measurement tools.
- Experience with electrical testing, troubleshooting, or test equipment.
- IPC, soldering, or other relevant manufacturing certifications are a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and move around a manufacturing environment for extended periods.
- Ability to frequently use hands and fingers to manipulate small components and tools.
- Ability to lift and move materials or assemblies weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Ability to perform repetitive assembly tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Good vision and hand-eye coordination required for detailed assembly and inspection.
