Job summary

Deckers Brands is seeking an ASRS Crane Operator/Technician to safely operate TGW automated cranes for storage and retrieval. You will monitor system performance, respond to alarms, perform first-level troubleshooting, and ensure accurate inventory placement while following safety protocols.

You will work closely with maintenance and IT colleagues to minimize downtime, conduct routine inspections, document faults, and support preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in automated or mechanized environments preferred.
• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills required.
• Ability to interpret HMI messages, alarms, and system prompts.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

• Operate TGW ASRS cranes for automated storage and retrieval of cases.
• Monitor crane activity via TGW and Pyramid interfaces.
• Respond to TGW system alarms, fault codes, and error messages promptly.
• Perform first-level troubleshooting of cranes and sensors.
• Safely clear jams, misaligned loads, or obstructions following safety procedures.
• Verify inventory accuracy and load placement/retrieval correctness.
• Conduct routine crane, rails, forks, sensors, and safety device inspections.
• Escalate PLC-related issues to maintenance/engineering teams.
• Document faults and downtime in CMMS; support preventive maintenance.

Job description

The Role:

The ASRS Crane Operator / Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of TGW Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) cranes. This role supports daily storage and retrieval operations, monitors system performance, responds to alarms and faults, and performs basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime while maintaining strict safety and accuracy standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate TGW ASRS cranes for automated storage and cases


• Monitor crane activity via TGW and Pyramid interfaces


• Respond to TGW system alarms, fault codes, and error messages in a timely manner


• Perform first-level troubleshooting of cranes, and sensors


• Safely clear product jams, misaligned loads, or obstructions following TGW and site safety procedures


• Verify inventory accuracy and confirm correct load placement and retrieval


• Conduct routine visual inspections of cranes, rails, forks, sensors, and safety devices


• Escalate mechanical, electrical, or PLC-related issues to maintenance or engineering teams


• Document faults, corrective actions, and downtime in system logs or CMMS


• Support preventive maintenance activities when required


• Assist with system recovery after emergency stops, power interruptions, or fault conditions


• Work closely with maintenance, IT, and operations teams to optimize ASRS performance


• Strictly follow TGW ASRS safety protocols, including restricted access zones


• Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and confined space procedures


• Use required PPE and maintain situational awareness around automated equipment


• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or system anomalies

Education/Certifications:

• High school diploma or GED


• Experience working in automated or highly mechanized environments


• Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills


• Ability to interpret HMI messages, alarms, and system prompts


• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness

Work Experience:

• Hands-on experience with TGW ASRS equipment


• Familiarity with PLC-controlled systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.)


• Experience with WMS/WCS platforms integrated with TGW automation


• Maintenance, automation, or mechatronics background


• Forklift or industrial equipment certification

Salary:

$20.91 - $23.51 The salary range posted reflects the estimated minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this role in: US - IN US8 Midwest Distribution Center Individual pay will be determined by location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
