Job summary

Ankeny High School in Ankeny, IA seeks an Assistant Varsity Girls Wrestling Coach for a temporary season. You will support the head coach in organizing practices, developing athletes, and ensuring compliance with district and state rules.

Qualifications

• Valid coaching license through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the season.
• Previous coaching experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
• Ability to lead and supervise student-athletes and staff.

Responsibilities

• Attend and effectively coach in all scheduled games as determined by IHSAA/IGHSAU.
• Develop and promote off-season programs and opportunities for student athletes.
• Collaborate with head coach on instructional strategies and practice organization.
• Teach and promote athletic skills, teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.
• Be present for practices and assess student performance for feedback and placement.
• Assist with monitoring student eligibility and enforcing the athletic code of conduct.
• Maintain information on student-athlete records and inventory of uniforms/equipment.
• Adhere to district policies, ethics codes, and safety procedures.
