Uncommon Schools in Boston is seeking Apprentice Teachers to gain hands-on practice and training to become full-time classroom teachers. Apprentice Teachers will observe Master Teachers, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide substitute teaching coverage, and support tutoring, grading, and student instruction.

Through in-house professional development and coaching, apprentices will develop teaching skills and mentoring relationships with students, aiming to become strong candidates for full-time

Responsibilities

• Teach classes on behalf of Deans and teacher-leaders
• Provide substitute teaching coverage for teachers
• Potentially teach one class or small groups
• Plan and deliver instruction, gradually taking on more responsibility
• Develop teaching skills to become a full-time teacher
• Support tutoring and small group interventions
• Observe Master Teachers to improve techniques
• Meet regularly with a coach for feedback
• Teach or help coordinate an Enrichment class
• Assist with instruction, assessments, and grading
