Job summary

Kingsville ISD is seeking participants for the Permanent Sub | Apprentice Program (PSAP). The Teacher Apprentice works under mentor teachers and campus administrators to develop instructional knowledge, classroom management skills, and professional practices needed to become an effective classroom teacher.

Starting August 24, 2026, through June 9, 2027, the role pays $213.90 per day for up to 187 days, with a maximum annual compensation of $40,000.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Be admitted into a SBEC-approved Alternative Certification Program (ACP) and actively progress toward teacher certification.
• Seek to get certified in the content area and grade level assigned to teach at KISD.
• Provide quarterly reports to the KISD Human Resources Executive Director from the ACP verifying enrollment and progress as requested.
• Maintain good standing with the ACP throughout participation in the program.
• Demonstrate commitment to student success and professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and delivering TEKS-aligned instruction.
• Prepare and internalize high-quality lessons.
• Deliver engaging instruction that promotes student learning.
• Use formative assessment and checks for understanding.
• Differentiate instruction to meet student needs.
• Support implementation of the district instructional framework.
• Maintain an effective classroom learning environment.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Participate in all required district professional development.
• Attend New Teacher Academy as assigned.
• Meet regularly with mentor teachers.
• Participate in instructional coaching.
• Observe highly effective teachers.
• Complete all Alternative Certification Program requirements.
