Job summary

Responsibilities

• Active participation in surgical consciousness.
• Assure each operating room has correct case cart, supplies, equipment and instrumentation according to provider preferences.
• Monitor and maintain a proper sterile field during surgical procedures.
• Prepares surgical instrumentation and ensures proper assembly and function.
• Count sponges, needles, and instruments before and after operation.
• Pass surgical instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants.
• Hold retractors and cut sutures, and perform other tasks as directed by surgeon.
• Monitor operating room conditions and patient/surgical team needs.
• Prepare dressings and assist with their application following surgery.
• Participates in room turnover.
