Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Johnston, IA to assist the Store Manager with staffing, inventory, merchandising and daily store operations. This role develops external candidates for the Store Manager track and remains in scope for a limited period.

Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting, merchandising, inventory, paperwork, and security practices, while ensuring customer service leadership and adherence to company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year retail experience preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams and safety rules.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and accountability.
• Ability to learn IBM cash register functions and generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Familiarity with safety and security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising, staging, stocking and pricing.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and control opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation on time.
