Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Georgia to support the Store Manager in executing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking, and receiving. The role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

Key duties include staffing, merchandising, inventory control, opening/closing tasks, and maintaining cash integrity while delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read and interpret documents, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Must perform basic math including percentages and calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposits, and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Understanding of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies (deposits, keys, safety programs).
• Recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Support store merchandising through staging, stocking, and pricing of merchandise.
• Help manage inventory, damages, markdowns, registers, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide leadership in customer service and store operations.
• Model company procedures and policies as outlined in manuals.
• Participate in opening and closing store activities.
• Safeguard company funds and ensure cash control procedures.
• Maintain clean, safe, well-stocked store environment.
• Operate store in the absence of the store manager.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
