Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to assist the Store Manager in supervising employees, staffing, inventory, stocking and daily store needs. This role is designed to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position and is limited in duration.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit controls.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred at some locations.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to store direction and practices.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership and act as a role model for company policies.
• Participate in opening and closing activities and ensure cash handling and security procedures are followed.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
