Job summary

Dollar General Store in Mississippi is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising staff, managing inventory, stocking and receiving, and handling paperwork. This role is intended to develop external candidates for the Store Manager position for a limited period.

You will assist in recruiting, merchandising, inventory control, and cash handling while upholding company policies. Travel to other stores may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math and percentages for daily transactions.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposits and cashier accountability.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions and report generation.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of deposits, store keys, safety programs and related policies.
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred for some locations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and staging, stocking and stocking presentation.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and prepare inventories.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Act as a role model by following company procedures and policies.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of all company funds at the designated bank.
• Assist in maintaining financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe environment for customers and employees.
• Operate store in the store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on time.
