Job summary

Meijer is seeking passionate leaders to join our North Detroit Market as Assistant Store Directors. You will provide direction on store operations, staff development, and performance management to drive sales and profitability across multiple locations in Michigan.

You will lead teams, ensure food safety and quality, and build community partnerships while delivering a superior shopping experience. Travel to various stores within the market is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• 5+ years of retail/grocery/operations management experience.
• 4+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Ability to develop strategies to improve customer service and profitability.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Leads performance management activities for leaders and team members, including ratings and development.
• Attracts, selects, and retains a team that supports Meijer’s culture and DEI values.
• Communicates daily with team, sharing financial performance, customer feedback, and recognition.
• Drives open communication and accountability in store operations.
• Oversees store operations in absence of the Store Director and ensures Food Safety standards.
• Develops staffing plans and recruiting strategies to meet forecasted needs.
• Ensures merchandising plans and displays maximize sales and profitability.
