Job summary

Zeta Charter Schools is seeking a Middle School Assistant Principal (Humanities or STEM concentration) for the 2027-2028 school year in New York City. The role is on-site in the Bronx or Upper Manhattan, with a starting salary of $105,000–$122,000 and a discretionary annual bonus potential.

The candidate will lead instructional teams, develop teachers, and drive student outcomes through data-driven coaching and rigorous, engaging classrooms.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as an Assistant Principal leading instructional teams and using data to drive student outcomes
• Minimum 2 years of classroom teaching experience
• Deep understanding of effective Middle School Humanities or STEM instruction
• Experience using student work, assessment data, and observations to identify gaps and coach teams to improve outcomes
• Proven ability to develop people, build high-performing teams, and sustain growth and equity

Responsibilities

• Build a joyful, safe, and rigorous school culture with a shared vision of excellence
• Foster authentic relationships with staff, students, families to support collaboration and student success
• Lead Humanities instruction with high standards across English and History
• Use data-driven approaches to monitor progress in English and History for grades 6–8
• Coach and develop English and History teaching teams to deliver strong instruction and SEL
• Analyze data to identify trends and drive strategic actions for student growth
• Model ownership and problem-solving to set a tone of excellence
• Contribute to leadership team shaping systems and routines for long-term success
