Job summary

Holder Construction is seeking an Assistant Field Engineer for our Richmond, VA project. This full-time role focuses on establishing project control, supporting field engineering crews, and performing precise layout using surveying equipment.

The candidate will verify layout accuracy, coordinate with trade partners, and ensure activities align with project schedules. Willingness to travel, overtime, and adherence to OSHA safety standards are required.

Qualifications

• Experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to operate total stations, site levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Strong understanding of structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, layout means and methods, and general building/site constructability.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support and oversee field engineering crew activities with guidance from a Field Engineer.
• Plan, coordinate, and perform field engineering and layout operations using surveying equipment.
• Provide accurate and timely layout for construction activities in accordance with project schedules and field priorities.
• Verify layout accuracy and tolerances per contract drawings and project specs.
• Collaborate with field crews, project teams, and trade partners to coordinate daily activities and resolve layout issues.
