Job summary

Holder Construction in Virginia is seeking an Assistant Field Engineer to join our Operations team on the Culpeper project. This full-time role focuses on supporting field engineering, layout, and surveying activities to ensure accurate construction starts.

You will work with field crews, use surveying equipment, and coordinate with project teams and trade partners to meet schedules and quality standards. Travel and overtime may be required; OSHA-safety environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading construction layout crews.
• Ability to operate total stations, site levels, lasers, data collectors, and tablets.
• Strong understanding of structural, architectural, civil, and shop drawings.
• Basic knowledge of layout tools and methods.
• Able to calculate quantities and convert measurements.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain vertical and horizontal project control.
• Support and oversee field engineering crew activities with guidance from a Field Engineer.
• Plan, coordinate, and perform field engineering and layout operations using surveying equipment.
• Provide accurate and timely layout for construction activities in accordance with project schedules and field priorities.
• Verify layout accuracy and tolerances per drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with field crews, project teams, and trade partners to resolve layout issues.
