Giant Eagle invites applications for an Apprentice Cake Decorator to join our Bakery team. You will support beautiful, delicious pastry displays and provide outstanding guest service, helping guests with cake decor requests and party needs.

You will train in Clerk and Baker functions, grow in leadership, and contribute to the bakery’s success. A creative custumer-focused mindset will help you connect with guests and share culinary ideas daily.

Qualifications

• Experience in a bakery or food service is not required, but helpful.
• 0–6 months experience preferred in food service or bakery environments.
• Willingness to learn bakery operations and cake decorating basics.

Responsibilities

• Learn product knowledge and procedures by category, special orders, cake program, portion control, seasonal items and color mixing.
• Follow procedures to help the store meet out-of-stock goals.
• Apply merchandising principles to drive sales and WOW guests.
• Maintain safety as a top priority for team members, guests and products.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting customers.
• Familiarize yourself with products to answer questions and make suggestions.
• Handle products and equipment per food safety and safety guidelines.
