Job summary

Lute Riley Honda in Richardson, TX, part of Sonic Automotive, is seeking an Apprentice Service Technician to support repair and maintenance tasks under a mentor’s guidance.

The role is entry level, requiring graduation from an automotive technician training program and offering hands-on training, a competitive hourly wage, and opportunities for career growth within the dealership network.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an automotive technician training school.
• At least 1-2 years of dealership apprentice technician experience (a plus).
• ASE Certification and/or trade school certification.
• Honda/Acura (or multi) brand experience.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Authorized to work in the USA; able to pass pre-employment testing (background checks, MVR, drug test).

Responsibilities

• The apprentice technician is assigned a Mentor usually a Master Technician to assist him/her in acclimating to dealership operations and sharing the Mentor's knowledge.
• Perform work as outlined on repair orders.
• Diagnose cause of malfunctions and perform repairs.
• Consult Mentor, Team Leader or Shop Foreman when needing guidance.
• Examine vehicles to determine if additional service work is recommended.
• Attend factory-sponsored training classes.
• Keep abreast of factory technical bulletins.
• Other duties as assigned.
