Job summary

Ajax Paving Industries of Florida is seeking a Screed Operator to join our paving crew in Florida. You will control and adjust the asphalt screed to achieve consistent mat quality, working closely with the Paver Operator to ensure accurate grade and joint construction.

Expected duties include operating screed electronics, performing handwork as needed, and maintaining equipment and safety standards on site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with asphalt paving, screed operation, or heavy highway construction preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Match all paver joints and maintain high-quality joints throughout paving operations.
• Monitor and adjust the screed to maintain asphalt thickness, grade, slope, and mat quality.
• Set up and operate screed electronics in coordination with the Paver Operator.
• Continuously monitor the asphalt mat and adjust to Ajax quality standards.
• Communicate with the Paver Operator and crew to ensure efficient paving operations.
• Assist with handwork, raking, shoveling, and other paving activities as needed.
• Ensure proper storage, care, inspection, and maintenance of screed equipment and tools.
• Identify equipment issues and report maintenance needs to supervisor.
