Job summary

Overland Corporation seeks a reliable Asphalt Roadway Density Technician to support paving operations across Oklahoma and North Texas. You will perform field density testing on roadway projects per TxDOT/ODOT specs and assist crews in maintaining quality and safety standards.

The role requires TxDOT 1B Asphalt Certification (training may be provided) and, if needed, ATSSA Traffic Control Technician certification. Travel and variable hours are expected.

Qualifications

• TxDOT 1B Asphalt Certification required (training may be provided).
• Experience with roadway density testing or asphalt quality control preferred.
• ATSSA Traffic Control Technician certification preferred or willingness to obtain through company-provided training.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as project schedules require.
• Ability to travel and work out of town when required.
• Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
• Strong work ethic, dependability, and professionalism required.

Responsibilities

• Perform asphalt field density testing using nuclear gauges or approved methods per TxDOT 1B/ODOT specs.
• Document and report daily density results with locations, equipment IDs, and notes.
• Communicate testing results to foremen, superintendents, and QC leadership.
• Verify compliance with agency specs, project requirements, and Overland standards.
• Operate, maintain, transport, and secure density gauges and testing equipment.
• Assist with roadway traffic control; flagging, signage, and work zone setup.
• Support rolling pattern evaluations and adjust compaction as needed.
• Maintain organized field documentation for TX and OK paving projects.
• Assist with asphalt production testing and other QC activities.
• Follow company, TxDOT, ODOT, and OSHA safety procedures; participate in safety meetings.
