Job summary

Rogers Group, Inc. seeks a Quality Control Technician based in Staunton, VA to support Virginia SMA asphalt construction operations.

You will test materials to ensure compliance with specifications, analyze data, and provide technical support to internal and external customers while upholding safety standards. The role involves operating QC lab equipment, maintaining control charts, and collaborating with teams to assure environmental compliance and reliable testing results in a fast-paced lab

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Computer and data entry skills required.
• Skilled in operating quality control lab equipment and testing materials.
• Knowledge of aggregate testing procedures including gradations, XRF/chemistry testing, crushed count, deleterious count, basic geological knowledge.
• Ability to problem solve and demonstrate critical thinking.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds continuously throughout the day.
• Basic mechanical/repair skills.
• Basic math and computing/technology skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills; be able to work on a team.
• Self-motivated and able to work without constant supervision.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
• Able to provide valid documentation for the I-9 Immigration document.

Responsibilities

• Test selection of materials produced to ascertain production of quality materials in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
• Monitor production and certify test results for use in contract procurement or completion of job quality requirements.
• Maintain control charts and other records required.
• Operate testing equipment and company vehicles in a responsible and safe manner.
• Perform daily housekeeping operations and maintain a clean lab environment.
