Job summary

The Middlesex Corporation in Orlando, Florida is seeking an Asphalt Plant Technician to safely operate loaders and other equipment, assist with startup/shutdown, and support daily asphalt production. You will monitor inventories, perform routine maintenance, and help maintain a clean, safe plant environment.

Candidates should have experience at an asphalt or aggregate facility, basic mechanical know-how, and the ability to read manuals and use plant software.

Qualifications

• Previous experience at an asphalt plant, aggregate facility, construction materials plant, or similar industrial environment preferred.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, skid steers, forklifts, excavators, or similar equipment preferred.
• Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform routine maintenance and assist with equipment repairs.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn plant operating systems and production software.
• Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, safety procedures, and operational instructions.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• CDL is a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and overtime as production schedules require.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all Safety policies and promote Safety as a core value.
• Operate loaders, skid steers, forklifts, and other equipment as required.
• Manage aggregate stockpiles and load materials into plant systems with proper segregation.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on equipment.
• Assist with asphalt plant startup, shutdown, and production activities.
• Monitor material inventory levels and communicate plant needs to supervisors.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment and assist with maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues and notify management of complex repairs.
• Support plant mechanics with maintenance and repair projects as needed.
• Utilize plant operating systems and computer controls for production and inventory management.
