Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking an Equipment Operator to support milling, paving and grading projects. You will operate small equipment and hand tools at various job sites, maintain cleanliness, and ensure equipment is in good working order.

You must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50 lbs. A flexible schedule including day, night, and weekend shifts is required due to construction contracts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or equivalency) AND prior relevant job experience.
• Valid/Clean Driver’s License.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work day, night, and weekends due to construction contracts.
• Ability to operate small paving equipment (tamper, roller, skid steer).
• Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Operate small equipment and hand tools on job sites for milling, paving, grading.
• Maintain housekeeping of job site and facilities; ensure equipment is in good working order.
• Follow policies and procedures for safe working conditions and environment; report issues to Foreman/Superintendent/Safety Manager.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative/corrective maintenance on small equipment and tools; escalate if unsafe.
• Assist crew members as needed, including shoveling and cleanup.
• Fuel, oil and grease equipment; complete related paperwork.
• Perform other related activities as assigned.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operate small equipment and hand tools on a variety of job sites consisting of milling, paving, grading.
• Maintains housekeeping of job site and facilities, ensures equipment is in good working order
• Working knowledge of methods, materials and tools used in asphalt paving, typical site work, grading, etc
• Properly follow all Company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
• Performs routine inspection and preventative and corrective maintenance on small equipment and hand tools if within abilities; escalates issues that are not repairable or safe.
• Routinely assists other members of the crew as needed, including shoveling and cleanup
• Fuel, oil and grease to ensure proper function of equipment and complete associated paperwork
• Performs other related activities as assigned

What Are We Looking For

• High School Diploma (or equivalency) AND prior relevant job experience

Conditions of Employment

• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
• Role operates primarily in environments where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, cold, humidity, and elevated noise level.
