Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials is seeking a Paving Laborer to join the production and field operations team in Colorado. The role combines manual labor with equipment-assisted tasks to install, repair, and maintain asphalt surfaces—highways, parking lots, and industrial sites—emphasizing safety and clean, hazard-free work environments.

You will assist Operators and Foremen, manage tools, observe safety protocols, and help with basic maintenance while learning heavy equipment operations for backup

Qualifications

• Experience operating production equipment or digging in field environments.
• Ability to troubleshoot basic equipment and safety systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with distribution, raking, and luting of hot-mix asphalt to achieve smooth grade.
• Shovel asphalt, fill trenches, clear debris, and prepare paving path for finish.
• Support patching with hot or cold mix and ensure joints meet specs.
• Set up traffic control devices and act as flagger/spotter for crew safety.
• Assist in backing trucks and dumping materials into paver using hand signals.
