Job summary

Martin Marietta Materials is hiring an Asphalt Plant Laborer in Golden, CO. The role supports production of hot mix asphalt by performing manual tasks and operating basic plant equipment.

You will assist with maintenance, material handling, and safety procedures to ensure efficient daily operations. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, yard cleanliness, stockpile management, and aiding paving crews.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class C driver's license with a clean driving record.
• High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
• 1+ years of experience in asphalt or construction.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Production equipment operation, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, OSHA regulations and compliance, time management.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preventative maintenance of plant components, including greasing bearings, replacing conveyor idlers, and inspecting drive belts and pulleys.
• Maintain cleanliness around the plant by shoveling material, sweeping walkways, and removing debris to prevent hazards.
• Under supervision, operate mobile equipment such as skid steers, front-end loaders, or water trucks to manage stockpiles or clean the yard.
• Utilize hand and power tools to complete repairs or tasks.
• Monitor and manage raw material stockpiles to ensure continuous flow into the plant.
• Support paving crews by preparing surfaces, raking asphalt to grade, and assisting in distribution of hot/cold mix for patching.
• Coordinate backing of trucks and dumping of material into pavers or silos for production speed.
• Follow OSHA, TCEQ regulations and internal safety protocols to maintain a zero-harm environment.
• Conduct daily pre-shift and post-shift inspections and report mechanical failures or safety concerns.
• Maintain PPE: steel-toed boots, hard hats, high-visibility vests, hearing protection.
• Communicate with Plant Operator and ground crew via radio/hand signals for safe traffic flow.
