Qualifications

At VCI Construction, as an Asphalt Concrete Laborer on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll participate in all phases of underground construction, including asphalt raking, asphalt rolling, loading, delivery, digging, and equipment operation.

What you’ll do as a Laborer

• Perform construction tasks including asphalt raking, asphalt rolling, loading, delivery, digging, and operating equipment
• Install underground telecommunications cabling
• Operate construction equipment, and maintain work areas
• Clearly communicate with all team members
• Complete daily production reports
• Help with site restoration efforts
• Perform work in all weather conditions
• Other duties as assigned
• Complete and maintain all training
• Always follow safety regulations, procedures, and policies in all work activities
• Engage in all phases of underground construction including loading, driving, delivery, digging, and removal of materials
• Hand dig using shovel and mechanical tools
• Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
• Perform asphalt raking
• Operate screed equipment
• Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
• Operate or work around heavy machinery such as backhoes, jackhammers, saws, and other tools
• Work in congested or remote areas
• Maintain visual and audible contact with team members and ensure safety coordination
• Perform flagging, property, or worksite restoration
• Maintain safe working habits according to all regulations and policies

What you’ll need

• Be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States
• High School Diploma, GED, or relevant work experience
• Previous experience with hand tools and utility trucks is preferred
• A valid driver’s license
• At least three years of related work experience; Foreman experience preferred

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work alone in remote locations, operate heavy machinery, and perform physical activities like lifting over 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladders, keyboards, and mice

Salary Range: $20 - $26 / hour (D.O.E)
