Job summary

Cleaver-Brooks in Thomasville, GA is seeking an ASME Structural Plate Welder–Fabricator for the night shift. You will review blueprints, lay out, fit, and align heavy-plate components for boiler and burner systems, and prepare parts for welding.

You’ll use cutting torches and carbon arc gouging, verify dimensions with tape measures and levels, and work toward code-quality output. Training is provided, with safety and quality as top priorities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; strong math reading skills.
• Completion of a welding program or around 6 months welding experience.
• Entry/trainee role with limited independent decision authority.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, fit, position, and align structural metal components per drawings.
• Set up parts, verify measurements, and assemble components for welding.
• Operate cutting torches and perform carbon arc gouging when required.
• Read blueprints and interpret process sheets; ensure code-quality output.
• Pass basic ASME certification tests within a reasonable timeframe.
