Job summary

The Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is seeking a Cafeteria Worker to support daily dining operations, meal prep, and service in a busy school environment. You will promote a welcoming atmosphere and assist students, including those with language needs, while maintaining safety and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• ASL proficiency at Level 2 or above required; advanced preferred.
• Experience in customer service is preferred.
• Familiarity with Federal Food Service regulations preferred.
• Ability to follow sanitation and hygiene protocols consistently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of cafeteria, tables, floors, and kitchen equipment per health standards.
• Prepare, serve, and portion meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Label, store, and manage food items per safety regulations and rotation.
• Keep storeroom and refrigerators organized; assist with end-of-year inventory and reporting.
• Utilize downtime for cleaning, restocking, and organizing cafeteria spaces.
• Create a welcoming dining environment and assist students as needed.
• Model clear communication in ASL during meals to support language development.
