Job summary

The Cafeteria Worker at Pennsylvania School for the Deaf supports daily cafeteria operations by preparing and serving meals, keeping areas clean and safe, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

You will promote a welcoming dining environment, assist students, and model ASL communication during service, with downtime spent cleaning, organizing, and restocking to support overall nutrition and well-being.

Qualifications

• ASL proficiency Level 2 (ASLPI) or higher required.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with Federal Food Service regulations preferred.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cafeteria cleanliness and sanitation to health standards.
• Prepare, portion, and serve meals for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.
• Label and store food according to hygiene regulations; manage inventory.
• Assist with end-of-year inventory and reporting.
• Promote a friendly, inclusive dining environment and assist students as needed.
