Job summary

VA School for Deaf & Blind is seeking a Food Service Worker to provide healthy, safe and sanitary meals to the students and staff of the school, with friendly customer service. This is an 11-month position (paid over 12 months) with full state benefits.

Working hours are 6:00am – 2:30pm, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities include: assisting with the preparation and serving of meals; cleaning the dining and kitchen areas; washing dishes; receiving food orders; putting stock in correct

Qualifications

• Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
• Novice level in American Sign Language or willing to reach that level within three years.
• Lift 35-50 pounds safely and repeatedly.
• Able to perform repetitive motions (standing, sitting, reaching, lifting, walking, bending, climbing).
• Able to tolerate varied cooking/food-service temperatures.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals.
• Cleaning the dining and kitchen areas.

• Receiving food orders.
• Putting stock in correct storage places.
