The Residential Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables on curbside and/or backdoor routes and transport them to post-collection facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate residential/recycling collection trucks and ancillary equipment to collect waste and recyclables.
- Load waste, yard waste, and recyclables into the truck.
- Operate equipment to compact trash.
- Perform safety inspections and report issues.
- Maintain route quality and safety standards.
- Ensure vehicle cleanliness and proper waste tagging.
- Manage helpers if applicable and follow all safety and legal regulations.
- Maintain accurate service records and inventory.
- Assist in route optimization and attend safety meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- At least 1 year of commercial driving experience or CDL school certificate.
- Ability to meet safety standards and operate trucks safely.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of truck components and maintenance.
- Ability to maneuver trucks and recognize unacceptable waste.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adapt to change.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks.
Physical and Mental Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift various weights.
- Visual acuity and ability to work in loud, outdoor environments.
Working Conditions
- Exposure to loud noise, weather conditions, and mechanical hazards.
- Work primarily outdoors, often in traffic and high precarious places.
