Job summary

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources Department is seeking a year‑round Sign Language Interpreter to support inclusive and accessible recreation experiences for Deaf or hard of hearing individuals. You will convey instruction and intent using American Sign Language across various settings including programs, meetings, and trainings.

Responsibilities include interpreting in diverse environments, providing voice to sign, and assisting with participant engagement.

Qualifications

• Must hold NCITLB licensure at start.
• Valid NC Class C Driver's License required.
• Adherence to NAD/RID Code of Professional Conduct is expected.
• Ability to interpret in recreation, educational and community environments.
• Willingness to work varied schedules including evenings, weekends, and special events.

Responsibilities

• Provide ASL interpretation for recreation programs, meetings, trainings, and events.
• Interpret for interviews, orientations, and instructional programs as needed.
• Facilitate communication between Deaf or hard‑of‑hearing participants and staff, instructors, and volunteers.
• Travel to program sites and events to provide on‑site interpretation services.
