Job summary

Shrub Oak International School in Northern Westchester County, NY is seeking an ASL Interpreter for on-site work at our 127-acre residential and day program. You will provide accessible communication in classrooms, meetings, and events for D/HH and Deaf/Disabled students, collaborating with a transdisciplinary team.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree, RID or EIPA certification (preferred), and strong crisis-management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• RID Written test pass OR EIPA score 3.5+ preferred.
• Minimum 1 year interpreting experience with deaf/HoH population in K-12 setting.
• Valid driver's license may be required for transportation.

Responsibilities

• Follow RID Code of Professional Conduct and EIPA Guidelines in decision-making.
• Provide accessible communication in academic settings, meetings, and events.
• Interpret for D/HH, deafblind, and hearing individuals; model sign language.
• Document student progress with the transdisciplinary team and attend relevant meetings.
• Prepare thoroughly for assignments and prioritize educational interpreting.
• Assist with materials, equipment, and emergency protocols as directed.
• Contribute to school safety and collaboration across departments.
