Job summary

Shrub Oak International School is seeking an SPED Education Teacher to join our on-site program in northern Westchester County, NY. The role supports autistic students with complex needs within a therapeutic day and residential setting.

The candidate will develop curricula, participate in IEPs, guide staff, and ensure compliant, data-driven instruction. Strong crisis-intervention skills and TCIS training are expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Special Education or related field.
• Current NYS Special Education teaching license.
• Knowledge of IDEA and state/federal special education standards.
• Experience using instructional technology tools.
• Experience with middle/high school students with autism.
• Credential in middle/high school or adolescent special education (preferred).
• Familiarity with educational and vocational assessment tools (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Develop, adapt, and implement curriculum using evidence-based practices.
• Participate in IEP process, set goals and monitor progress.
• Guide classroom staff to ensure high-quality instruction.
• Deliver instruction aligned with student needs and assess progress.
• Collaborate across departments for life skills and vocational instruction.
• Maintain records and communicate with families.
• Stay current on laws, regs, and best practices in special education.
• Demonstrate crisis intervention skills and TCIS training.
