Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing seeks a compassionate Sign Language Interpreter to provide dedicated 1:1 interpreting services for a student in a Valley Center, CA school. This full-time role follows a Monday–Friday schedule aligned with school hours.

Responsibilities include direct 1:1 interpretation, translating classroom instruction and events, and facilitating communication among the student, teachers, and staff. ASL fluency and relevant certifications are preferred, with background clearance required.

Qualifications

• ASL fluency required.
• Educational interpreting experience preferred.
• EIPA or RID certification preferred or required as applicable.
• Must meet school district background clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct 1:1 sign language interpreting throughout the school day.
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, activities, and events.
• Facilitate effective communication between student, teachers, staff, and peers.
• Support the student's access to the general education curriculum and classroom activities.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and appropriate interpreter boundaries.
• Collaborate with teachers and school personnel to support the student's educational needs.
• Follow all applicable professional interpreting standards and school policies.
