Job summary

Open Sky Community Services in Massachusetts is seeking an American Sign Language Interpreter to support Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals. You will interpret in person and virtually for trainings, meetings, and clinical assessments, and may travel to homes and community locations as needed.

Requirements include a High School Diploma, NIC certification, at least 2 years of ASL interpreting, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
• Current NIC certification and 2 years of ASL interpreting experience, required.
• Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record, required.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting in person and virtual staff trainings, meetings, and clinical assessments.
• Interpreting for group gatherings between individuals served and staff, and for clinical assessments.
• Traveling to individuals' homes or community locations to interpret between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals and staff.
• Collaborating with external interpreters for assignments requiring a second interpreter.
• Providing education to trainers and meeting leaders on creating a deaf-friendly atmosphere.
