Job summary

Open Sky Community Services seeks a Sign Language Interpreter to support the Adult Community Clinical Services team in Leominster and Worcester. You will interpret in person and virtually to facilitate communication between Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing individuals and hearing staff, in homes, clinics, and community settings.

The role requires NIC certification, 2+ years of ASL interpreting, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel.

• Requires NIC certification and at least 2 years of ASL interpreting experience.
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Willingness to travel to Leominster and Worcester regions to interpret in various settings.

Responsibilities

• Interpret in person and virtual trainings, meetings, and clinical assessments.
• Provide interpretation for group gatherings between clients and staff.
• Travel to clients' homes or community locations to interpret as needed.
• Collaborate with external interpreters for assignments requiring a second interpreter.

Job Description:Adult Community Clinical Services is a Department of Mental Health funded service that is designed to deliver evidence-based interventions within a clinically focused model. Individuals served are diagnosed with mental illness or dual diagnosis and reside in their own homes, apartments, or in group living environments. Our services focus on helping people transition to a more independent environment while maximizing their natural supports by building skills and achieving personal goals. The teams are tight knit, supportive and multidisciplinary. Open Sky’s talented clinicians, substance use counselors, nurses, peer staff, housing counselors, outreach counselors, and direct care staff provide quality, compassionate care to individuals served.The Sign Language Interpreter will provide ASL interpretation to support the ACCS team in providing services to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing individuals receiving services from ACCS. This position will enable communication between the deaf and hearing staff and between deaf individuals and hearing staff.
