Job summary

Sinclair Community College is seeking part-time (adjunct) ASL Faculty to teach daytime courses at The Hope Center in Dayton and Courseview Campus in Mason, OH. Adjunct pay is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

Position open to residents of OH, IN, KY or those able to work in these states. Requires bachelor’s degree in interpreter education or related field and ASL proficiency; Native signing preferred. Teaching experience and certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in interpreter education or related field required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Proficiency in ASL is required; native or native-like signing.
• National Interpreting certification preferred (RID/NIC).
• Experience teaching ASL or interpreting is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work in a diverse college community.
• Experience with educational technology and multimedia-based instruction.

Responsibilities

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning
• Prepare and submit syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ teaching strategies and use instructional technology as appropriate
• Modify methods to meet diverse student needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work promptly
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters by deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Cannot exceed maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
